As Latter-day Saints and others from around the world mourn the passing of Prophet and President Russell M. Nelson, the Church has announced that the October 2025 general conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will carry on as planned, October 4–5, 2025.

The conference is streamed and broadcast live in over 70 languages so that people anywhere can access it in gatherings large and small, in homes and family settings. Background Information About General Conference and Church Leadership
October 4–5, 2025, marks the 195th Semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The conference and Church are led by the First Presidency, which includes the prophet and two counselors. The First Presidency is supported by the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
When the prophet dies, the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles assumes Church leadership, and the appointment of a new prophet happens in an orderly way. Learn more about the process here. Traditionally, a new First Presidency is not organized and announced until after the funeral of the deceased Church president.
