Latter-Day Saints Around the World: March 2026

From delivering clean water to students in Ghana to supporting literacy and nutrition programs in the Philippines, Latter-day Saints worldwide are serving with faith and compassion

Newsroom features stories from its dozens of Church websites worldwide to show what members and leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are doing to serve their communities. Today, we feature news from Costa Rica, the Philippines, Taiwan, Peru, Chile, Nigeria, Mexico and Ghana.

Costa Rica: Volunteers Collaborate in Community Service in Heredia 

Youth, leaders and missionaries organized a day of community service at a historic Catholic parish in Heredia, Costa Rica, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, where they carried out cleaning, maintenance and gardening efforts to help preserve the site. The initiative, supported by the Church of Jesus Christ, contributed to the care of an important spiritual and cultural space for the community. 

Parish leaders expressed gratitude for the volunteers’ respectful and cooperative service, highlighting the positive impact of interfaith collaboration. The activity reflects a shared commitment to strengthening unity and building bridges between faith communities through service.

Philippines: Interfaith Ramadan Outreach Promotes Unity in Manila 

Faith groups gathered at the Manila Golden Mosque and Cultural Center in Manila, Philippines, on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, for a Ramadan outreach that emphasized service, compassion and unity among different religious communities. As part of the initiative, supported by the Church and interfaith partners, bread was distributed to members of the local Muslim community. 

Religious and community leaders highlighted the shared values of giving, sacrifice and care for others, especially during the sacred month of Ramadan. Participants shared that such efforts strengthen understanding and build bridges between faiths.

Taiwan: Interfaith Service Improves Living Conditions for Elderly Resident 

Local volunteers in Sanzhi District, New Taipei City, Taiwan, on Monday, March 16, 2026, worked together to improve the living environment of an elderly resident by repairing uneven road surfaces around the home. Organized in partnership with the Church and the Chinese Enthusiastic Development Association, the project aimed to enhance safety and reduce the risk of falls. 

Using cement and permeable bricks, volunteers restored walkways and created safer access, with additional support from the New Taipei City Veterans Service Office. The effort highlights the impact of interfaith cooperation in building safer, more supportive communities for the elderly.

Peru: Blood Donation Campaigns Strengthen Community Health 

On Saturday, March 7 and Saturday, March 14, 2026, blood donation campaigns in Huaraz and Carabayllo, Lima, Peru, brought together volunteers, local residents and medical teams to strengthen regional blood banks and support patient care. Organized with the support of the Church, the initiatives aimed to improve access to lifesaving blood for emergencies, surgeries and other medical needs. 

“Donate blood, save lives,” emphasized health personnel, adding that each donation can help up to three people in need of transfusions. 

Participants and organizers highlighted the spirit of solidarity and service shown during the campaigns, reinforcing the importance of community efforts in strengthening health care systems and caring for those in need. 

Chile: Church Supports Inclusion with New Multisensory Room at Miraflores School 

On Saturday, March 14, 2026, Miraflores School in Peru, inaugurated a new Multisensory Room, designed to support students with special educational needs and promote emotional well-being. The project was made possible through a donation from the Church, providing therapeutic, technological and recreational equipment for both the room and outdoor areas. 

 School leaders said the space strengthens inclusion while supporting sensory stimulation and psychomotor development, demonstrating care and hope for students and their families.

Nigeria: Donation Enhances Immigration Services in Abuja 

High-tech equipment was donated to the Nigeria Immigration Service in Abuja, Nigeria, on Thursday, March 12, 2026, to improve processing systems for travelers and support more efficient immigration services. Provided by the Church, the donation included computers, passport readers, webcams and printers to strengthen key airport and visa platforms. 

Officials thanked the Church for their support. The equipment will enhance service delivery and benefit both travelers and arriving missionaries, while reinforcing ongoing collaboration between the Church and government institutions. 

Philippines: Church Supports Literacy Program in Negros Occidental 

The Church of Jesus Christ donated Peer-to-Peer Tutor Kits and provided training to teachers and staff at Concepcion Elementary School in Talisay City, Philippines, on Thursday, March 12, 2026. The initiative, in partnership with the local Schools Division Office, aims to strengthen literacy development and promote peer-assisted learning among students. 

The tutor kits include instructional materials designed to help students support one another in building reading and academic skills, encouraging collaboration and active learning in the classroom. Training sessions were also conducted to guide educators on effectively integrating the materials into their teaching. 

Partnerships like this help address resource gaps and create more opportunities for student success.

Philippines: Collaboration Strengthens Nutrition Programs in Quezon City 

The Church collaborated with Project HOPE and local government agencies, to support maternal and child nutrition programs in Quezon City, Philippines, through the donation of supplies, equipment and health education materials on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. The initiative is part of the Latter-day Saints Nutrition Strengthening Project, launched in 2025 to improve nutrition services and health outcomes for mothers and young children. 

Donations included therapeutic food sachets, micronutrient supplements, television screens for health education, bulletin boards and IT equipment to improve data reporting. These resources will help health centers in priority barangays address moderate to severe malnutrition and strengthen community outreach.

Mexico: Mexico: Church Supports Children’s Hospital Technology Upgrade 

On Friday, March 6, 2026, the Church donated technology and training to the Federico Gómez Children’s Hospital of Mexico to strengthen pediatric care, improve data security, and enhance hospital coordination. The phased project includes new computers, tablets, updated systems, and staff training to support the hospital’s continued leadership in children’s health.

Ghana: Church Brings Clean Water to Students and Community

On Friday, February 27, 2026, the Church donated a new borehole with a reverse osmosis filtration system to Samsam Odumase MA Basic School in the Greater Accra Region, Ghana, providing clean and safe water for 400 students, 20 teachers and the surrounding community. For years, the school relied on an unsafe dugout well and nearby stream, which exposed students and staff to waterborne diseases and disrupted learning. 

During the handover ceremony, school officials, community leaders and Church representatives celebrated the project as a transformative solution that improves health, education, and daily life. Rodney L. Campbell, president of the Ghana Accra West Mission, highlighted the connection between clean water, moral guidance and the teachings of Jesus Christ, emphasizing service to those in need.
