Milestones for Temples in Brazil, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Montana

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the open house and dedication dates for the Belo Horizonte Brazil, Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala and Managua Nicaragua Temples. The groundbreaking date for the Missoula Montana Temple has also been announced.

Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple

A media day for the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, followed by private tours for invited guests on June 11 and 12.

The public open house will be held Saturday, June 13, through Saturday, June 27, 2026 (excluding Sundays).

The dedication will be held Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 10 a.m. (rebroadcast at 2 p.m.). The dedicatory session will be broadcast to all units in the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple district.

More than 1.5 million Latter-day Saints live in Brazil and attend more than 2,000 congregations.

Dedicated temples in Brazil include the Belém, Brasília, Campinas, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and São Paulo Temples.

The Belo Horizonte, João Pessoa, Londrina, Natal, Ribeirão Prêto and Teresina Temples are under construction, and the Campo Grande, Florianópolis, Goiânia, Maceió, Santos, São Paulo East and Vitória Temples have been announced.

“Temples are a vital part of the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ in its fulness. Ordinances of the temple fill our lives with power and strength available in no other way. We thank God for those blessings,” President Russell M. Nelson said following the announcement of the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple in April 2021.

Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple

The open house for the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple will begin with a media day held on Monday, August 24, 2026. Invited guests will tour the temple on August 25 and 26.

The public is invited to tour the temple from Thursday, August 27, through Saturday, September 12, 2026 (excluding Sundays).

Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside at the dedication, held Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 10 a.m. (rebroadcast at 2 p.m.). The dedicatory session will be broadcast to all units in the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple district.

This temple was first announced in October 2020 by President Nelson.

Whatever your challenges, my dear brothers and sisters, live each day so that you are more prepared to meet your Maker. That is why we have temples,” he said. “The Lord’s ordinances and covenants prepare us for eternal life, the greatest of all of God’s blessings.”

Over 292,000 Church members call Guatemala home, meeting in nearly 440 congregations.

The Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple will be the fourth operating temple in the country, joining the Cobán Guatemala, Guatemala City Guatemala and Quetzaltenango Guatemala Temples.

Construction began on the Huehuetenango Guatemala Temple in 2026, and the Retalhuleu Guatemala Temple has been announced.

Managua Nicaragua Temple

A media day will be held Monday, September 7, 2026, for the Managua Nicaragua Temple, followed by private tours for invited guests September 8 and 9. The public open house will be held from Thursday, September 10, through Saturday, September 26, 2026 (excluding Sundays).

Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside at the dedication on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 10 a.m. (rebroadcast at 2 p.m.). The dedicatory session will be broadcast to all units in the Managua Nicaragua Temple district.

Nearly 104,000 Latter-day Saints live in Nicaragua, meeting in over 100 congregations. This is the country’s first house of the Lord.

President Nelson announced this temple in 2018.

“Our message to the world is simple and sincere: we invite all of God’s children on both sides of the veil to come unto their Savior, receive the blessings of the holy temple, have enduring joy, and qualify for eternal life,” he said then.

Missoula Montana Temple

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Missoula Montana Temple will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026. Elder José A. Teixeira, United States Central Area President, will preside at the event.

This house of the Lord was announced by President Nelson in April 2022.

“I plead with you to counter worldly ways by focusing on the eternal blessings of the temple. Your time there brings blessings for eternity,” he said then.

There are over 52,000 Latter-day Saints living in Montana, meeting in almost 140 congregations.

Two temples are operating in the state: the Billings Montana Temple and the Helena Montana Temple.

Temples of the Church of Jesus Christ are different from meetinghouses or chapels, where members gather for Sunday worship services. A temple is considered a house of the Lord, where the teachings of Jesus Christ are reaffirmed through marriage, baptism and other ceremonies that unite families for eternity.
