The Newsroom Blog

In Your Own Words is a regular sampling of online articles, blog posts and social media that represent some of the current conversations about Mormonism. The posts in this series do not necessarily represent the views of the Church, nor are they meant to be a comprehensive summary of the social media conversations about the Church. The intent is to highlight social media content that will help journalists better understand Mormonism, by highlighting media created by individuals.

  • I don't think I'd ever say it was the best 18 months OF my life but it was the best 18 months FOR my life. Sacrifice, hardwork, living 24/7 with another person forces you to learn conflict resolution, compassion, and charity. I will always be grateful for the time I was able to serve My Heavenly Father full time.

  • Looking back 20+ years, my mission to Argentina was really the first time I forgot about my own desires and focused entirely on others. I have tried to apply this outward focus ever since and find more happiness when I do.

  • It was among the hardest things I've ever done - and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. Serving in Romania cemented my testimony of Jesus Christ, taught me how much God loves every single one of His precious children, opened my eyes to the big wide world and the good in it, even among those who don't know Him and helped me learn to love my unknown brothers and sisters. Oh yeah and I met the man who is now my eternal companion. I'm so glad I had the opportunity and so grateful God trusted me more than I originally trusted myself.
