Following the recent March 30 announcement outlining adjustments to Sunday meetings and youth curriculum, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is inviting youth, parents and leaders to begin preparing now for changes that will take effect on September 6, 2026.

Central to these adjustments is the updated “For the Strength of Youth: A Guide for Making Choices” — a principle-based, Christ-centered resource that will become the curriculum for Young Women classes and Aaronic Priesthood quorums beginning this fall.

Church leaders emphasized that these changes are designed to strengthen youth in their discipleship, deepen home-centered gospel learning and build unity as young people worldwide study the same principles together.

A Monthly, Principle-Based Curriculum for Youth

The updated “For the Strength of Youth” (FSY) guide contains 12 chapters — one for each month of the year — each focused on doctrine, principles and real-life application. Beginning September 6, classes and quorums will study one chapter per month, learning how to make choices with the Savior Jesus Christ at the center of their lives.

Youth are invited to read the entire guide before September 6, becoming familiar with its teachings and learning how to use it as a lifelong resource for discipleship and decision-making.

The desired outcomes for youth who study this guide are that they will:

  1. Become lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ with a firm understanding of His gospel.
  2. Be prepared for the endowment with a deeper understanding of priesthood ordinances and covenant promises.
  3. Be prepared for a mission with a desire to serve the Lord.
  4. Be focused on their future family with an understanding that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Father’s plan.
  5. Know Jesus Christ is their strength.

The guide is now available in the “Youth” collection of the Gospel Library, with printed copies arriving at units worldwide.

Read Together: One Chapter per Week Beginning May 3

Beginning May 3, 2026, the “For the Strength of Youth” (formerly “Strive to Be”) social media channels will host a worldwide reading experience. Youth, their families, and leaders are invited to read one chapter per week, preparing together for the upcoming curriculum.

Weekly posts will include:

  • Reading invitations

Youth Discussion on August 30, 2026

To prepare youth and their families for the new curriculum, the Church has designated Sunday, August 30, 2026, the fifth Sunday of that month, as a worldwide discussion day for youth.

On this Sunday:

  • youth,
  • their parents,
  • youth leaders, and
  • Primary children who will turn 12 in 2027

are invited to gather together in their wards and branches to watch instructional videos provided by the Church and conclude with a local discussion.

This special fifth-Sunday meeting will introduce the new curriculum, demonstrate how to use the guide effectively, and offer practical instruction on how youth can participate fully in weekly classes beginning September 6.

“The purpose of the updated FSY guide is to help youth gain the tools they need to become lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ,” said Emily Belle Freeman, Young Women General President. “As young women and young men learn to study, apply, and live the principles found in the guide, they will naturally become more like Christ.”

Those who want to study the guide before September 6 can use a study plan available in the Gospel Library app. The plan allows members to track completed chapters, set in‑app notifications and listen to each chapter, which will automatically mark the week’s reading as complete.

“Lifelong discipleship begins with daily discipleship,” said Timothy L. Farnes, Young Men General President. “As we look toward September 2026, let’s begin today to prayerfully study the FSY guide and its accompanying scriptures. As you walk with Him, you will discover that Jesus Christ is your strength. Allow Him to be your guide in every choice you make.”

More information and resources will continue to be shared as September approaches.
