The Prophet’s Special Witness of Christ

Every Apostle in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a special witness of the name of Jesus Christ (see Doctrine and Covenants 107:23). President Russell M. Nelson has visited 133 countries since his call to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in April 1984. In all his ministering and teaching, whether in person or online, he has shared a powerful witness of Jesus Christ.

In honor of the prophet’s 101st birthday (September 9, 2025), all are invited to use the hashtag #PresidentNelson101 on social media as they share lessons learned from President Nelson and how his teachings have impacted their lives and brought them closer to Jesus Christ.

Below are five of President Nelson’s many teachings about the Savior of the world and all that His Atonement makes possible.

Jesus Christ Is the Source of Healing

“Because the Savior offered Himself as the infinite Atonement, you and I have the opportunity, the privilege, to be forgiven when we repent. We can also turn to Him for healing of our hearts, for strength where we are weak, and for help to do things we simply cannot do on our own.” —2018 in Jerusalem

Jesus Christ Is the Source of Salvation

“The call to the Holy Apostleship is one of witness to the world of the divinity of the Lord Jesus the Christ. I know that salvation is centered in Him! Said the angel to King Benjamin [in the Book of Mormon]: ‘Salvation was, and is, and is to come, in and through the atoning blood of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent.’” —April 1984 general conference

Jesus Christ Is Our Reason for Optimism

“The best is yet to come, my dear brothers and sisters, because the Savior is coming again! The best is yet to come because the Lord is hastening His work. The best is yet to come as we fully turn our hearts and our lives to Jesus Christ.” —October 2024 general conference

Jesus Christ Is Our Master

“We honor [Jesus] as the most important individual ever to live on Planet Earth. He is Jesus the Christ — our Master and more. … Wherever I walk, it is my divine calling and sacred privilege to bear fervent testimony of Jesus the Christ. He lives! I love him. Eagerly I follow him, and willingly I offer my life in his service. As his special witness, I solemnly teach of him. I testify of him.” —BYU devotional, February 1992

Jesus Christ Is Our Hope for Life After Death

“Thanks to the Atonement of Jesus Christ, our bodies, corruptible in mortality, will become incorruptible. Our physical frames, now subject to disease, death, and decay, will acquire immortal glory. Presently sustained by the blood of life and ever aging, our bodies will be sustained by spirit and become changeless and beyond the bounds of death.” —October 1995 general conference
