April 2026 General Conference

Latter-day Saints Sustain New First Presidency in Solemn Assembly

During the Saturday morning session of the April 2026 general conference, Latter-day Saints participated in a solemn assembly. They sustained President Dallin H. Oaks as prophet, seer, and revelator, along with the other members of the First Presidency, the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and other senior leaders in their respective roles.

“I express our gratitude as leaders of the Church for our members’ sustaining vote, prayers, and support,” President Oaks said at the beginning of the session. “We also pray for you to be guided and prospered as you continue the great service you give to the children of God throughout the world.”

Solemn assemblies are special, sacred meetings held only on rare occasions, including the first general conference of a newly called Church President.

In Saturday’s solemn assembly, Latter-day Saints voted by quorums and groups to sustain members of the Church’s senior leadership.

The new First Presidency was named on October 14, 2025, but the Saturday morning session of the Church’s annual general conference in Salt Lake City was the first opportunity for the entire Church membership to formally sustain their new leadership.

The prophet concluded his brief morning remarks with a witness of Jesus Christ.

“At this Easter season, I reaffirm our testimony of the resurrected Lord and recognize that He is the head of this Church. We pray for His blessings upon this conference and upon all of you.”
