The opening of the visitors’ center marks a significant step in the reopening of Temple Square in anticipation of the Salt Lake Temple Celebration, scheduled for April 5, 2027, through October 1, 2027.
The visitors’ center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with no reservations or tickets required. Guest experiences are offered in English, French, Mandarin, Portuguese and Spanish. Experiences in American Sign Language (ASL) will soon be available.
The only experience requiring a reservation is the “Inside a Temple” tour, a guided 30-minute experience on the lower level of the center. It provides insight into the purpose and symbolism of temples of the Church of Jesus Christ.
Beginning June 1, 2026, additional tickets for this experience will be released every other Monday.
All other experiences in the visitors’ center are self-guided and available without ticket reservations. These offerings include the temple model room and the “Christus” exhibit.
Missionaries and guides are available to answer questions and assist guests.
The facility was designed with accessibility and comfort in mind. Strollers are welcome and casual dress is appropriate. Comfortable shoes are recommended, particularly for those participating in the “Inside a Temple” tour. Drinking fountains and restrooms, including family restrooms, are located on the lower level.
Outside the visitors’ center is a newly designed garden and plaza, complete with two statues depicting Jesus Christ.
Guests are encouraged to download the Temple Square app (Apple, Android) to help plan their visit and navigate the new space.

Inside the temple, chandeliers are being installed in the celestial room. Work is also progressing on sealing rooms in the sealing wing addition, as well as on staircase railings and intricate finishing throughout the building.
The temple’s new copper roof has been fully installed, marking a major exterior achievement. In about a year, the copper will darken to a brownish color, before gradually developing a natural green patina.
