Tokyo Japan Temple President Yasuo Niiyama died Friday, April 28, 2017. He has been serving as president with his wife, Tomiko Hatakeyama Moulton Niiyama, since November 2015.
Prior to his time as temple president, Niiyama served as a member of the Church's Area Government Relations Council. He also served as an Area Seventy, with his wife as president of the Japan Sendai Mission, regional representative and several assignments in his local congregation.
In his professional life Niiyama was a council member of the Japan Immigration Association and CEO of the Selnate Group.
He was born in Kobe, Japan, to Yoshio and Tsujiko Murakawa Niiyama.
