As previously announced, this house of the Lord will be constructed on approximately 1.56 acres at Avenida Cordoba Esquina Reconquista, Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires, Argentina. This will be the city’s second temple.

Also announced is the Rosario Argentina Temple with five dedicated temples in the country, including the Bahía Blanca, Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Mendoza and Salta Argentina Temples. Argentina is home to over 490,000 Latter-day Saints who meet in more than 730 congregations.

In a recent general conference, President Dallin H. Oaks taught about the purpose of worshiping in sacred houses of the Lord.

“The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is constructing temples all over the world. Their purpose is to bless the covenant children of God with temple worship and with the sacred responsibilities and powers and unique blessings of being bound to Christ they receive by covenant,” he said.

Temples differ from the Church’s meetinghouses (chapels). All are welcome to attend Sunday worship services and other weekday activities at local meetinghouses. The primary purpose of temples is for faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ to participate in sacred ceremonies that unite families forever.
