Elder Stevenson Meets with the Governor of the State of Mexico

Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints met with Delfina Gómez, governor of the State of Mexico, at the State Government Palace in Toluca, Mexico, on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

Elder Stevenson was accompanied by his wife, Lesa, Elder Marcus B. Nash of the Presidency of the Seventy and his wife, Shelley, as well as Elder Moisés Villanueva, President of the Mexico Area, and his wife, Leticia.

During the meeting, Elder Stevenson discussed the Church’s contributions to individuals and families in the area. The group also explored potential areas of collaboration to support government initiatives that promote social development, community well-being, and increased opportunities for the people of Mexico.

With more than 17 million residents, the State of Mexico is the most populous state in the country and generates the second-highest gross domestic product. Located in central Mexico, it plays a key role in the nation’s industrial, commercial and service sectors.

The Church’s presence continues to grow in the area with the October 2022 announcement of the Toluca Mexico Temple by then-President Russell M. Nelson.
