RootsTech 2026 is taking place March 5–7, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and online at RootsTech.org. The theme for this year’s event is “Together,” inviting participants to connect, uncover, and share new insights about their ancestors and heritage.
The annual genealogy conference is hosted by FamilySearch, an international genealogy organization and website sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. RootsTech highlights emerging trends in genealogy, including advancements in DNA research, artificial intelligence, and innovative tools for discovering and preserving family stories.
“Every year, we look forward to welcoming millions of RootsTech participants from around the world,” said FamilySearch Director of Events Jonathan Wing. “We are committed to providing a world-class experience that will inspire and empower our attendees to make meaningful discoveries.”
In 2025, millions participated from 235 countries and territories, with the Relatives at RootsTech experience connecting 660,000 participants who viewed 6.6 million ancestor relationships.
To register for RootsTech 2026, visit the registration page on RootsTech.org. There are two registration options — one for attending online and one for attending in person in Salt Lake City, Utah. Those who plan to attend RootsTech in person can register online or in person at the event. Pricing is $79 for one day and $129 for a three-day pass. Family Discovery Day is Saturday, March 7, and is free for the whole family.

Family Discovery Day

Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife, Melanie, will speak about coming unto Christ by uniting families for eternity. Additional activities for all ages — including cultural performances, storytelling, live music, classes and family history experiences — will take place at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
