President Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside at the dedication on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 10 a.m. (rebroadcast at 2 p.m.). The dedicatory session will be broadcast to all units in the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple district.

Media professionals and invited guests attended a press conference and toured the temple on Monday, April 20, 2026.

Elder Brian Holmes, General Authority Seventy, spoke about the importance of temples for Latter-day Saints.

“For us, these temples are the most sacred places of worship in our faith, and we are so honored and delighted to be able to share this temple with you here today," he said.

Elder K. Brent Nattress, General Authority Seventy, encouraged members of the Church and community members of the surrounding area to tour the temple during the open house celebration.

“I feel that imperfect people can have perfect moments. We hope for you today that coming to the House of the Lord can be one of those perfect moments," he said. "We hope that for our friends who are not members of our faith, that you’ll see that we go to the temple to feel of His love, to feel the sacred holiness that comes when we are in His house, but most importantly, that when we leave the House of the Lord that we are better neighbors, we’re better friends, we’re more kind.”

About the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple

The temple’s features were inspired by local landscapes, including art glass that reflects the green vegetation and blue water of the nearby McKenzie and Willamette Rivers.

Nearly 150,000 Latter-day Saints live in Oregon, meeting in around 280 congregations.

This will be the third house of the Lord in the state, joining the Portland Oregon Temple and the Medford Oregon Temple.

President Russell M. Nelson announced the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple in April 2021.

“Temples are a vital part of the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ in its fulness. Ordinances of the temple fill our lives with power and strength available in no other way. We thank God for those blessings,” he said then.

Latter-day Saints worship in temples for several reasons: to feel God’s love and peace, to learn more about God’s plan for His children and the gospel of Jesus Christ, to make promises with God and with one’s husband or wife and to unite families in this life and the next through sacred ordinances.
